(1) Upon the request of the applicant for or proprietor of a European patent, the central industrial property office of a designated Contracting State shall apply the procedure for the grant of a national patent:
(a) when the European patent application is deemed to be withdrawn pursuant to Article 65, paragraph 5, or Article 156, paragraph 3; (b) in such other cases as are provided for by the national law of that State in which, under this Convention, the European patent application is refused or withdrawn or deemed to be withdrawn, or the European patent is revoked.

Article 158

(1) Each Contracting State may, at the time of signature or when depositing its instrument of ratification or accession, reserve, for a period of 10 years from the entry into force of this Convention, the right to provide:

Article 162

[modifier | modifier le wikicode](1) This Convention may be revised by a Conference of the Contracting States.
(2) The Conference shall be convened by the Administrative Council. The Conference shall not be deemed to be validly constituted unless at least three-quarters of the Contracting States to the Convention are represented at it. In order to adopt the revised text there must be a majority of three-quarters of the Contracting States represented and voting at the Conference. Abstentions shall not be considered as votes.
(3) The revised text shall enter into force when it has been ratified or acceded to by the number of Contracting States specified by the Conference, and at the time specified by that Conference.
(4) Such States as have not ratified or acceded to the revised text of the Convention at the time of its entry into force shall cease to be parties to the Convention as from that time.

Article 171a (new)
[modifier | modifier le wikicode]Preservation of acquired rights
[modifier | modifier le wikicode](1) In the event of a State ceasing to be party to this Convention in accordance with Article 162, paragraph 4, or Article 171, paragraph 1, rights already acquired pursuant to this Convention shall not be impaired.
(2) A European patent application which is pending when a designated State ceases to be party to the Convention shall be processed by the European Patent Office, in so far as that State is concerned, as if the Convention in force thereafter were applicable to that State.
